Asim Riaz rose to popularity with his stint in the television reality show Bigg Boss 13. He was declared the first runner up of the show. While he may not have won the game, he definitely won the hearts of people. The actor/model enjoys a massive fan following on social media even long after Bigg Boss 13 concluded. Ever since Bigg Boss, Asim has been a part of several music videos and is on the receiving end of great many work offers.
Recently an old video starring Asim as a background dancer in an ad featuring Shah Rukh Khan had gone viral on social media. In an exclusive chat with Bollywood Hungama, Asim opened up about the ad. “That was around the end of 2013-14. I had just moved to Mumbai and you go to auditions and they say whether you are fit or unfit. This was an ad, I went for. It was a three day shoot. It was a Lux ad. There were a lot of guys and I was a model. Back in the day, models were not given that recognition. If you were just out of the blue coming in the way, nobody would respect you because they think everybody is the same,” he said.
“But that has nothing to do with the ad. It was my bread and butter. That time I got a call saying you have to do this and I was like I am doing it because I have to pay my rent, pay my bills. I was working,” he continued.
Further talking about the struggle one has to do to become big in the industry, Asim said, “How do you get big in life ? Doing small things. I can’t wake up in the morning and get a flight to Mumbai from Jammu, sign a movie and go back. That’s not how it works . It works with the struggle, the ten years of struggle and then you get something. Now, I am doing music videos, movies and all these things. But then I had done something in steps. Everything has a step. You can’t just wake up and be like ‘ok I am rich’. You have to work for it. So that was part of my work. That was part of my bread when I was earning and that was my living.”
“I have done ads with Kangana Ranaut as well and many other ads. It was just the beginning of something big,” he added.
